DESCRIPTION: Examine patients and dental x-rays to determine the nature of patient conditions and detect signs and symptoms of possible systemic disease that are manifested in the oral cavity. Provide instruction on diet, brushing, flossing, the use of fluorides and other aspects of dental care for good oral health habits. Educate patients and administer care to assist in preventing future dental problems. Examine, diagnose and provide appropriate dental treatment on problems associated with the teeth and surrounding tissue in the mouth including filling cavities on teeth, removing tooth decay, placing protective sealants on teeth, repairing fractured teeth and straightening teeth. Create dental treatment plans and consult with patients on maintaining and restoring good oral health. Perform dental and periodontal cleanings, along with periodontal readings and, if necessary, sub-gingival curettage. Administer anesthetics and write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications for pain and infection caused by dental conditions as necessary. Perform root canal treatment and treat diseases of nerve, pulp and other dental tissue affecting oral hygiene and retention of teeth. Treat disease, injuries and malformation of teeth and gums in the oral cavity. Perform corrective surgery on gums and supporting bones to treat gum diseases. When necessary, extract teeth and make models and measurements for dentures to replace missing teeth and fit patients for dental prosthetics such as crowns and bridges. When required, refer patients to dental specialists such as oral surgeons, periodontists, endodontists, orthodontists, pediatrics and/or prosthodontists. Under the supervision, guidance and instructions of managing owner dentist(s), help maintain patient dental records, communicate with dental staff regarding patient treatment plans, and assist in educating dental assistants and office staff on patient scheduling duration based on dental treatment, patient retention for routine dental maintenance, and operatory and equipment care. Continue to be educated through continuing education courses and workshops to stay up-to-date on utilizing modern technology to provide clinically excellent dentistry.
REQUIREMENTS: DMD or DDS degree. Will accept foreign equivalent of DMD or DDS. 2 years of experience in job offered. Must be licensed and registered with the State of NY Dental Board.
LOCATION: Paul Duggal, P.C. - 119 Wickham Avenue, Middleton, NY 10940. 40 hours/week. If offered employment must have legal right to work in U.S. EOE.
